Belarus/Natalya Arlovskaya

Belarus is an intimidating, harsh young woman who radiates a hostile atmosphere. She has a deep infatuation with her brother Russia, though her feelings are not returned and he feels disturbed by her deep obsession with marrying him and her somewhat stalker-like behavior. Latvia said that she and Russia are so scary that even ghosts wouldn't want to meet them. She's said to have a very strong heart and equally strong will, but they only seem to manifest in negative ways. She's rather vulgar in her speech, and was noted to say things like "penis" and "shit" in a calm way.

Belarus briefly became a sort of adoptive younger sister to America after the fall of the Soviet Union, when she began trying to avoid Russia because nothing good came out of sticking to him. Her appearance as a Hetalia "desktop buddy" also reveals that she loves the occult, finds her traditional clothes cute, is a good fortune teller, and that she is an avid reader of the newspaper Pravda. Latvia also mentions that Belarus has been into rock music as of late. Himaruya has mentioned that Belarus is a good acrobat. She said that the gymnasium is her pride and that her voice is supreme, mentioning that she got to talk a lot in Russia's CD.

Also in her appearance in the Sealand and Latvia desktop buddies it's revealed that she can see ghosts. She expressed confusion at ghosts that are only their head or hand, and said that they must not be confident enough to only exist as their balls. It's possible she spaces out a lot, as she's spent so much time staring at objects (namely her ribbon, "France's thing," "a cat's thing," cardboard, flea remover, or a herring's eyes) that the sun went down or it became night as she did so, or spending three hours staring at the white noise on a TV. She said that Louis Gruenberg should be kinder to her, and that she should have done better back in the Soviet Union. Her outlook on life, or at least, human life, is rather negative as she finds that "humans are a series of misfortunes and hardships" and they're constantly filled with misfortune and make others suffer without realizing it by constantly striving for eternal happiness. She seems to value Lukashenko (her boss) because she knows she will eventually die, so she must value the things she has now before death takes them from her. Somewhat related, she's questioned how much longer she will live, and her reason for existence, saying she only thought such things because she's lonely. According to her diary, she's fantasized about Dmitri Smirnov, made a fansite for both her brother and her boss, occasionally enjoys prank calling Lithuania and "silent calling" (calling, but then not speaking once the phone's been picked up) Poland, stacking blocks into rows of threes and knocking them down repeatedly, and doing other activities. She also took haunted photos as a hobby, however when she did so in America, she was bothered by how conspicuous the American ghosts were. She also seems to have an odd fondness for cardboard and cardboard boxes. According to her, she's packing for something. She knows a lot of "useless trivia" such as the name of Paris Hilton's dog and that rodents can be taught to use tools, however she says not to use that knowledge for crime, before mentioning that "the degu rodent is kind of cute..."

According to her, she's skilled in cooking potatoes and she always eats them due to inflation. She thinks that "as long as we have something to eat, it's fine" and works hard on her agriculture due to her bad economy. She said that Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled her as unsafe and she has travel warnings against her.

Upon being asked by Latvia, she said that the higher ups in Belarus used to speak Polish, somewhat implying that she can, as well.

At five in the morning, she said she would go watch the sun rise. She calls eight AM "torture" and four PM "the devil." At nine, she decided to "watch some state-run TV to be poisoned by propaganda." According to her, ten in the morning is the most thrilling time in Belarus. She seems to get nervous around 11 and 12 for some reason, and calms down (saying "you've forgotten") at one and that "it's alright" and "you have to start moving on" at two.

She said that the shadow on the moon was, according to Netherlands or Denmark (she couldn't recall which,) someone who had been imprisoned there for some crime. She wondered how long he had to stare at the earth powerlessly until he was forgiven and that she wasn't much better off than him.

Belgium/Bella Vries

Belgium is Netherlands' and Luxembourg's sister, though it's said that they often push her around. She's cheerful and mature, but she doesn't stand out much due to the people around her. She, herself, admitted that the stronger countries surrounding her make her look plain, but she tries her best nonetheless.

Earlier notes describe her as a tsukkomi ("straight man") type. According to the character chart, she speaks in a Shiga dialect. Volume 3 stated that she was cheerful and good-natured, but a bit nosy. However, when angered, she's scary. The profile page cited her as "a diligent, kind, meddlesome and friendly older sister!" She also "loves gourmet and tasty snacks!" Her home is famous for its waffles, and her gourmet tastes may be part of the reason that she finds foreign waffles to taste unpleasant. Another thing her house was noted to be famous for was the Manneken Pis.

For Halloween Belgium dressed as Little Red Riding Hood. She used it as an opportunity to briefly advertise a real-life Belgian horror game, The Path, based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. It was said that, as a child, she was even better at business than her brother, so it's possible she's simply retained some of those business skills.

During the Christmas invasion of the Parallel nations, Belgium ran into one of the shadows at her house. Ignoring or not noticing the strange aura that they seem to radiate, she instead felt concern that he was naked in the middle of the winter, worried something horrible must have happened to him. Even though he was about to attack her, she showed him compassion and showed her sisterly traits in removing and giving him her scarf, startling him out of attacking her. She said that, even though his heart may have been cold because of whatever happened, he had to warm his body. She said that he could keep the scarf as a Christmas present and told him to go home, warm up, and get some rest, before taking her leave.

A picture of Belgium had been requested on Christmas as the requester was a saxophone player and wanted a picture of the country who created them. Belgium complied, however she said that she had been holding a saxophone but it had been very frustrating, so she couldn't hold it for the picture.

Hungary/Elizabeta Hedervary

In her past, Hungary was once a nomadic girl who loved to chase after horses on the plains and was rather tomboyish, having been raised to believe she was male until her breasts grew. She is described as being, a reliable older sister type, the manliest character in the series, and being very scary when angered. She loves bathing in hotsprings and singing scary songs. In an older profile, she was said to be introverted, but a hard worker behind the scenes. She's also said to be somewhat unlucky. She still appears to occasionally speak boyish manner, especially when excited, using the masculine Japanese pronoun ore to refer to herself in the original text.

She comes off as a fujoshi (literal: "rotten woman," a woman who is a yaoi fan) and Himaruya has cited her behavior as such as Hungary being a "Mecca for gay videos". This feeling was supported by her blushing, drooling, and being conflicted about saving Austria from France when he was touching his nipples and stripping him (as well as staring at and taking pictures of the partially undressed Austria after finally saving him,) excitedly filming Austria being forced to strip until she realized it was Prussia doing it (then citing that it was "too much"--the punchline being just what was too much--before throwing her frying pan at Prussia and having France strip him as well,) and her cooing over Holy Roman Empire attempting to cover up a wet and naked Chibitalia after he'd escaped bathing with her.

She doesn't get along well with Romania, to the point where their relationship is described as like that of cats and dogs. It is also said that due to her dislike of Romanians, she would name her dogs after them. She also doesn't get on well with Prussia, as he teased her for her hardships when they were young. Mongolia is said to have bullied Hungary in her youth, along with the Ottoman Empire.

She's shown to enjoy cute things, such as tamagochis and has expressed her love of cute boys. In Hetaween 2011 she dressed up as a prince and convinced Austria to dress up as her princess, wanting to sweep him off his feet. This could be a reference to her tomboyish attitude. Despite her brash and at times battle-hungry behavior, she's also not afraid to show her feminine side, if her gentleness and preference towards wearing dresses when not in uniform are anything to go by.

Liechtenstein/Lili Zwingli

Originally having been Austrian nobles, she is described as being rather high-tech, with a humble and mature personality and a level head, though she will clearly state her views. Her speaking pattern is rather formal, and she didn't seem to understand the informal greeting shared between Seychelles and Hong Kong. She was passed along many different nations throughout her life, which became rough and difficult for her after WWI due to a food shortage. However, Liechtenstein was saved from her situation when Switzerland found her and adopted her as his sister.

Due to her resemblance to her brother after her haircut (and having worn a duplicate uniform), Liechtenstein was once mistaken for being a young boy, causing her to become intensely concerned about the size of her chest. Switzerland rectified this problem by gifting her the purchase of a ribbon of her choice.

Although few of her relationships have been shown in canon, her profile in Volume 4 states that she is social and has many friends.

Monaco/Lucille Bonnefoy

In 2008, when asked about a Monaco character, she was described as being "way more than healthy/energetic" and he said that "a more leisurely optimistic, but refined in some respects sort of feeling" would be good for her character. In her official profile she is described as prideful girl who gives off a stylish impression. She speaks like an older man in some respects and her great intelligence has protected her country to the present day. She's variously prone to worrying and constantly thinks about the state of the world and economic things while gazing at the sky, but when you speak to her she's surprisingly calm and sociable, though she worries about the boisterousness of other countries more than anyone else. A young honor student, she's an optimist at heart despite her stern appearance, and does ballet as a hobby. Her volume 4 profile states that she believes behaving cleverly is best and that she's against eating tuna.

Known for her beautifully structured casino which she, herself is not allowed in by law, she puts her efforts into tourism, interior designing, and cosmetics. Despite not being allowed in the casino, she's shown to be a bit of a gambler and confident in her strong skills, betting a date with Seborga on a game of poker. She also displayed confidence in their plan during Halloween to get others to join them. She also owns a Japanese-style garden which is not far from the casino.

When Taiwan expressed unease due to the Western girls' cleavage, Monaco tells her that she shouldn't worry about such things. She seems to be reliable, as she made comments that calmed down the partying caused by the sudden great gathering of people which caused the event to halt, and Germany thanked her for them. She continued to offer her assistance if it was needed, as she had no intention of leaving the event until it was all over. When it was announced how many people had shown up, she said it couldn't be helped as everyone was on vacation and had a lot of free time. When Cyprus mentioned the special atmosphere that Christmas had, she said that it would be the best if they had parents and lovers with such an atmosphere.

Seychelles/Michelle Bonnefoy

Seychelles is described as a country girl with a big heart who can sometimes be sloppy. She can't cook on her own and laments over her high cost of living. During the Christmas 2010 event, Seychelles asks Finland to send her food in exchange for a picture. Her language is a unique type of French, mixing both French and English. During her cameo in Comic Diary 9, Seychelles, after overhearing other nations mention their stereotypes and reputations, rants that people do not know of her existence. In United States of Hetalia 2, it is revealed that the island where both the Allies and Axis have been repeatedly stranded is the island of Seychelles.

In her Gakuen Hetalia appearance, she fears attending a new academy because she lacks talent and confidence. She claims to have once been rich and strong, but has become poor and useless. Seychelles believes that her only abilities are to sing, dance, and make souvenirs. Seychelles is conflicted over her feelings for both France and England; the former raised her and makes sexual advances, while the latter is aggressive and dominant. Seychelles does not have fond feelings for her coat of arms, and she is laughed at in her Africa class due to its outlandish appearance.

Taiwan/Lin Yi Ling

Taiwan is described as a strong-willed, fashionable young woman, but she is also said to have become more of a nervous type in recent times, unable to stop worrying. Most of the time she is very positive and cheerful, and enjoys Japan's "kawaii" culture very much. She is also a great cook.

Her role in the drama track for the eighth Hetalia character CD predates any manga or anime appearance (as with Hong Kong, who appeared in Hetalia Fantasia). There, she's portrayed as a rather smart-mouthed girl with a somewhat quick temper and a cheerful disposition.

Ukraine/Katyusha Braginskaya

Ukraine is the oldest of the three siblings, and is constantly getting dragged into some sort of mess. She is described by her brother as being very warm-hearted and motherly, having taken care of him and Belarus when they were little. She was the one who gave Russia his scarf, which he continues to wear today. Ukraine also shows maternal tendencies to other ex-Soviets, such as Poland, and to characters outside her family as well.

Russia also notes that she's a bit of a cry-baby and her heart is too big, making her an easy target. She desires to make friends in the West after her independence, but it appears she's struggling.

It is later stated in volume 3 notes and her volume 4 profile that despite her cry-baby appearance, she is also a 'fearsome' older sister and can stand her ground.

The Sealand and Latvia desktop mascot reveals that Ukraine is known for her surreal "guro" horror games.

Vietnam/An Lien

Vietnam is described as "headstrong" due to the number of strong women in Vietnamese history. She appears a bit shy when it comes to her looks, appearing apprehensive when Taiwan wishes to take a picture with her and is uncomfortable wearing a Santa outfit in a 2009 Christmas Request. In a blog post, Himaruya mentioned that Vietnam has a natural skillfulness and uses it to create a variety of different objects, and Austria mentions in one comic that he special ordered cinnamon from Vietnam. In the volume four strip Ilha Formosa ~Beautiful Island~, Vietnam claims that she is not photogenic. In the Christmas 2011 event, Vietnam shows that she doesn't know how to smile.

Wy/Audrey Kirkland

Wy is a mouthy girl who tries to act mature, but has been said to show her childish side as well. She has also been described as one to enjoy her freedom along with fun things to do. While she emphasizes the fact that the mayor of the surrounding township has recognized her independence, she realizes that she is not classified as better than either of her micronation peers.

She has been stated to be artistically gifted.
